Bibliographic Guide - The Note System

  Quotations
  • Short quotations (less than 30 words) should be included in the body of the essay and enclosed in inverted commas
Example:
"Hitler's chief concern was to invade Russia and destroy communism" (1)
  • Longer quotations (more than 30 words) should be indented. You do not need to enclose an indented quotation in inverted commas. Leave a space before and after the indented quotation.

Example:

More than 50,000 Australian troops saw action on the Gallipoli Peninsula between April and December 1915. Nearly 7,600 of them were killed in action and now lie buried under Turkish soil. (2)
